Belief Bridge

Many employers invest substantially in health benefits, prevention programs, and employee communications, yet access to credible health information does not necessarily lead to engagement. Employees encounter health information across a much broader environment—including healthcare providers, health plans, news, social media, community networks, and other sources that employers do not control.
Trow Health is working with George Mason University through a National Science Foundation cooperative agreement on Belief Bridge, an early-stage translational research initiative exploring how employers can better connect employees with trusted, evidence-based health information. Trow Health's founder serves as a Co-Principal Investigator on the project.
Trow Health provides translational research, customer-discovery, and health-engagement expertise for the project. This includes helping design and conduct interviews with employers and benefits leaders; examining organizational needs, existing approaches, adoption barriers, and practical constraints; exploring employee perspectives through qualitative research; and applying evidence from health communication, psychographic segmentation, information behavior, and related research to potential solutions

Artificial Intelligence and Interim Analysis of Controlled Trials

Many controlled trials would benefit from understanding interim results before final outcomes are known. Interim analyses and stopping rules can help protect participants, conserve scarce research resources, and improve the likelihood that studies generate meaningful evidence. Determining when these approaches are appropriate, however, remains a complex scientific and operational challenge, particularly for research addressing diseases in low- and middle-income countries.
Trow Health is collaborating with the University of Florida on research exploring the use of artificial intelligence to evaluate controlled-trial protocols before studies begin. The research examines whether AI-based approaches can help identify trials that may benefit from interim analysis, additional monitoring, or other protocol considerations.
Trow Health provides research and scientific-writing support for the project. This has included reviewing controlled trials and their use of interim analyses to provide a comparison for the AI-based evaluations; conducting literature reviews; helping interpret the findings in the context of controlled trials addressing diseases affecting low- and middle-income countries; and contributing to development of the research manuscript for submission to a peer-reviewed journal.

Kevin Cevasco founded Trow Health after a career spanning commercial health information technology, public health research, and nonprofit service.
Kevin spent more than three decades in technology and consulting, working at companies including IBM, SAIC, and Dell. His work included large and complex health initiatives serving government and healthcare customers, with experience ranging from business development and strategy to health information systems design and implementation.
A different perspective on healthcare emerged through his volunteer work with Friends of Patients at the NIH, where he served in leadership roles supporting patients and families receiving care at the National Institutes of Health. In the NIH surroundings, Kevin became increasingly interested in a persistent problem: Why, despite remarkable health advances in prevention and treatment, do people so often not engage with them?
That question led him back to university to study public health and, eventually, the beliefs and information behaviors that influence health decisions. Kevin earned a PhD in public health epidemiology from George Mason University. His research has since examined health beliefs and decision-making, eHealth uptake and adherence, psychographic segmentation, information seeking and avoidance, vaccine hesitancy, health communication, clinical research recruitment, and the behavioral dimensions of One Health. He also holds an MBA from Virginia Tech and a BS in computer science from George Mason University. His academic work has included postdoctoral research and teaching at the University of Florida.
